During Layne Coleman’s tenure as artistic director from 1997 to 2006, 80 new plays were produced either exclusively by TPM or in partnerships with nearly 40 independent theatre companies. In 1999, TPM produced The Drawer Boy by Michael Healey, a play that revisits the actor’s experience of living with famers in Clinton, Ontario while creating The Farm Show. The Drawer Boy won the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Play, a Chalmers Award, and a Governor General’s Award, and has received productions across the country including Winnipeg, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
